Medifast – American alternative to a Mediterranean diet

PEOPLE in the United States are now health-conscious nowadays. With the advent of such movie documentaries as Super Size Me, people in America have now realized that the number of their obese people increase and increase everyday while their counterparts in Europe are getting healthier many thanks to a very efficient Mediterranean diet.

And so, various diets are mushrooming up everywhere in the US. One of these is Medifast. Question is, how do we know which particular diet exactly works? The first clue is to look for the name of the diet. We can deduce in Medifast that it is in itself a Mediterranean-inspired diet. And fasting once in a while can certainly cleanse the body of unwanted toxins. So therefore, Medifast may be the best diet of them all. But don’t just take my word for it. The following is the description of a typical Medifast diet.

A typical four-week Medifast package for men which costs a very affordable $299.50 consists of 49 shakes, 42 bars, 14 oatmeals, seven scrambled eggs, 14 soups, seven chocolate puddings and seven cappuccinos. At first glance alone, one can already conclude that the nutrients and calories in this diet are roughly equivalent to a European Mediterranean diet.

Medifast is an effective weight loss program designed to place our body into a metabolic mode called ketosis where our body burns its own fat stores for fat.
